The abbreviation PFAS is "doing the rounds" and possible restrictions or bans on perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl compounds are also affecting the coating sector. This is because PTFE belongs to the PFAS group and high-performance PTFE coatings have become almost indispensable in sealing technology. This is why a coating specialist has developed a PFAS-free bonded coating and is offering an adequate replacement for premium PTFE coating systems on seals even before any restrictions have been decided.
The planned PFAS restrictions - a hotly debated topic. Especially in the plastics industry, but of course also within the coatings industry. In the latest issue of DICHT! 3.2023 we were allowed to comment on this. As we are naturally heavily affected in the painting and coating technology sector, because many of the bonded coatings available contain PFAS, we are taking a proactive approach to this issue.

The German contract coating company APO started small and now owns the largest number of Rotamat coaters of any business in the world. The company currently operates ten machines of this kind and coats around one billion parts per year. Walther Trowal and APO worked closely together to develop the Rotamat so that it could coat plastic parts as well as metal ones.
